Friendly visitors for disabled adults.
Independence Association is home to many older adults with serious disabilities who would enjoy a one-on-one visitor mid-morning or mid-afternoon. You might work a puzzle, chat, share a cup of coffee or play music with a resident at one of our small homes in Brunswick. We want people who smile warmly and speak graciously, even when there’s not a long answer. Staff are always on hand.
Nonprofit Art Studio Seeks Talented Blogger.
The renowned Spindleworks art center for disabled adults needs a writer/photographer to update their blog regularly with photos of art and artist interviews. Weekday hours between 9-4, to be scheduled. 7 Lincoln St., Brunswick.
Special Events Volunteers
We need one-time volunteers for various special events during the year, including these:
May: Flaggers / race marshals. The Run for Independence is Maine's most ability-inclusive race event.
September: Cooks, servers, and registration support at our Annual Dinner. More than 250 clients, family members, friends and staff gather in Brunswick.
November: Super-fast runners. We're tired of getting trounced in the Brunswick Downtown Association's annual Bed Race (a mid-November Saturday). We need four "ringers" to move at least one of our two beds into the top ranks!
December: Cookie bakers. Our December Cookie Walk fundraiser sells hundreds of home baked cookies to benefit our Gardiner art studio, SpinOff.
December: Party platter makers. Our client Christmas party could use your pizzazz to liven up the food tables.
