Management Spotlight: Kim Carpenter
Finance Manager Kim Carpenter is a great example of the opportunities Independence Association offers to people who show themselves ready and willing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Southern Maine and started working for Independence Association in January 2011 as the General Ledger/Payroll Specialist. Within a couple of years, she advanced to Finance Assistant and a year later to her current role as Finance Manager.
Kim’s on the quiet side, reliable, and well-loved by her staff. Anyone who works with Kim finds her unfailingly professional, polite, positive, and helpful. In spite of her seeming reserve, Kim can be full of surprises. She knows a lot about cars – especially Volvos. She knows every detail about The Walking Dead and The Game of Thrones. She married her husband, Jonathan, on a frozen lake in the month of February! They have a son, Ian, and two rescue dogs, Jenny and Mabel. These days, Kim’s workload has cycled back to her earliest job here, as she has taken on payroll while she is training the new staff member who will handle it long-term. We’re grateful for her flexibility and commitment to Independence Association and the people we serve.
